Cayo Costa

Cayo Costa is only accessible by a ferry or a private boat. This is a beautiful place to go because of the pine forests, oak-palm hammocks and mangrove swamps. The beach here is 9 miles long with lots of shells. At Cayo Costa you can go hiking and biking and also fishing. If you like camping, you can stay in a cabin or a tent. Make sure you bring a flashlight because there is no electricity in the restrooms. Also bring lots of supplies along if you are staying over because there isn't a store on the island. Bring some kind of repellent, you will be glad you did. During the winter season there are fewer bugs are around. The tractor-drawn trolley will take you to and from the campsites and the beach. You may even see dolphins or manatees swimming around in the water. There is a fee for the ferry service that departs from Pine Island. Cayo Costa is located directly south of Boca Grande and West of Pine Island and N. Ft. Myers.
